An An-74 plane of the Ministry of Emergency Situations with heat guns and heaters for the residents of Tuva flew to Kyzyl from the Novosibirsk region. On March 6, an explosion occurred at the Shagonarskaya CHPP in Tuva, the operation of the enterprise was turned off.

“All equipment will be distributed for heating socially significant objects, multi-apartment residential buildings and internal heating networks,”— reported Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

On the evening of March 6, another An-74 EMERCOM plane took off from Krasnoyarsk to Tuva with heat supply equipment. Another plane was sent to Kyzyl to evacuate victims of the explosion at the thermal power plant.

As a result explosion and a fire at the Shagonarskaya CHPP, 23 boiler house workers were injured, 15 people were hospitalized. During the liquidation of the consequences of the explosion, a regional emergency regime was introduced in the republic. According to regional authorities, all four boilers of the thermal power plant were not damaged as a result of the incident, but require repair of the fuel supply system.

By data TFR, the cause of the explosion could be the accumulation of coal gases. In connection with the incident, criminal cases of negligence (Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities (Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) are being investigated.
