On the evening of November 13, 2015, almost simultaneously, three groups of terrorists carried out six deadly attacks in different parts of Paris. The attacks were highly planned and coordinated, and the suicide bombers acted together, most likely communicating with each other via walkie-talkie.

First, suicide bombers carried out explosions near the Stade de France stadium. Another group attacked a restaurant and bar in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, killing 26 people. Around the same time, massacres were carried out in a pizzeria and near a cafe in another area of ​​the French capital.

On that fateful evening at 21:50, terrorists attacked the Bataclan concert hall, located in the 11th arrondissement of the French capital, while the American rock band Eagles of Death Metal was performing there. The armed extremists began to shoot the spectators in the building, then locked themselves on the second floor and killed the hostages there (about 100 people were taken hostage by jihadist bandits) in the most brutal ways.

When the French special forces (GIGN) launched their assault, three terrorists were either killed or committed suicide. The assault ended after midnight.

As a result of the terrorist attack at the Bataclan concert hall, about 90 people were killed, among them the manager of the rock band Eagles of Death Metal.

The total number of victims as a result of a series of terrorist attacks in Paris was 130 people, more than 350 were injured.

Responsibility for the terrorist attacks was claimed by the so-called. “Islamic State” (ISIS is a terrorist organization banned in Russia).

The terrorists cited the operation of the French Air Force against ISIS in Syria as the reason for their crime. All three Bataclan attackers were born in France but were of Arab origin.

Overall, of the terrorists who attacked in Paris, two were of Iraqi origin, but the majority were natives of France or Belgium. At the same time, many fought in Syria.

The organizer of the series of terrorist attacks on November 13, 2015 was a group of jihadists from the suburb of the Belgian capital Molenbeek, and the plot was led by a Belgian citizen of Moroccan origin, Abdelhamid Abaaoud. He was killed on November 18, 2015, after a shootout with French police in the Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis.

The then French President Francois Hollande declared a state of emergency throughout the country, ordered the borders to be closed and the armed forces to be put on full alert. A curfew was introduced in Paris, and in France the authorities declared three days of mourning.

In September 2021, the trial of Salah Abdeslam and 19 others accused of helping the terrorists who carried out the attacks in November 2015 began in Paris. In the summer of 2022, the court sentenced Salah Abdeslam to life imprisonment, while the remaining defendants were sentenced to various prison terms.
