On Monday, August 7, the results of the sports festival “Bering Games” were summed up in Anadyr. The team of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) became the winner in the team standings, and the representative of Chukotka, Vadim Anaka, became the best among men, IA Chukotka reports.
32 athletes took part in the competition – two men and two women from each of the eight Arctic regions of Russia. On August 5, on the first day of the Beringian Games, jumping disciplines were mainly competed. In men, the leadership was taken by athletes from neighboring Yakutia, and in women, by representatives of the Komi Republic.
“I have good jumping ability by nature, so the results are good. Since the fifth grade I have been doing the northern all-around, but the program of these competitions only includes a triple jump from there. The rest of the disciplines are unusual, so we contacted the organizers and trained according to the description and the video they sent us,” said the winner in the women’s category Anastasia Paramonova from Komi.
The champion became the best in five of the seven disciplines, also in her piggy bank the second and fourth places. In men, after the first day, Georgy Sofronov from Yakutia was in the lead, but then Vadim Anaka from Anadyr overtook him, who has two first and three second places.
“In the individual championship, I improved my results in some disciplines, but in the team standings last year it was silver, and this year only third place. But Dmitry Turelkut was injured at the very beginning – he pulled the press and all other types were already performing in character. The opponents are well prepared. Yakutia has a strong team, Komi overtook us in the last two events,” said Vadim Anaka.
At these Beringian Games, athletes set seven competition records. In the team standings, the team of Yakutia took the first place, the Republic of Komi was in second place and Chukotka Autonomous Okrug closed the top three. Teams from the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Republic of Karelia, the Murmansk Region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Arkhangelsk Region follow.
Recall that the sports games of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic were held as part of the International Festival “Bering Strait” (0+), which will last until August 11. The festival program includes business sessions, sports competitions and presentations.
