The systematic development of sports continues in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. Today, 138 organizations and clubs are registered in the region, which carry out physical education and recreational work with the population and organize various district competitions among young and adult athletes.
“Infrastructure is important to promote an active lifestyle. Over the past 10 years, 15 facilities have been built in the region: multifunctional sports grounds in Novy Chaplino, Lorino, Markovo, Bilibino and Pevek, a swimming pool in Bilibino. 3 sports grounds in Lavrentiya, Egvekinot and Ugolnye Kopi. We continue the construction of a sports complex in Pevek and a gym in Lavrentiya, we are working on creating sports grounds in Anadyr and Egvekinot, as well as a modular gym in the village of Tavaivaam,” said Vladislav Kuznetsov, Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
In 2024, construction of a gym in Lorino will begin in Chukotka, in 2025 – a smart playground in Beringovskoye and a modular gym in Kanchalan. In 2026, sports grounds will appear in the villages of Amguema, Neshkan and Rytkuchi. Also, within the framework of concession agreements, it is planned to build sports complexes in Anadyr and Coal Mines.
“We have a lot of work to do in order to provide all settlements of Chukotka with modern sports infrastructure, and we will definitely do this work. We pay much attention to national sports: the reindeer sled races “Rilet” and “Erakor”, the legendary mushers competition “Nadezhda”, the leather kayak regatta “Beringia” and competitions in national sports. Our athletes successfully perform at Far Eastern and All-Russian competitions, and according to the results of the All-Russian GTO ranking, Chukotka is among the 10 best regions of the country,” noted Vladislav Kuznetsov.
The task of developing sports infrastructure in the regions of the Far East was set by Deputy Prime Minister – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev as part of the order of President Vladimir Putin on the development of mass sports in the country.
