The Supreme Court in Chechnya reduced the prison term of Zarema Musayeva by six months, who was previously sentenced to 5.5 years for causing harm to a police officer and for fraud.
“Recognize Musayeva’s chronic illnesses as a mitigating circumstance and assign her to serve five years in a penal colony,” the decision was announced in the courtroom.
The police detained the woman in early 2022. Chechen law enforcement officers arrived in Nizhny Novgorod and took Musaeva to Grozny for interrogation.
Initially, a criminal case was opened against the convict for using violence against a security officer. As the head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, reported, the woman attacked the policeman who was drawing up the report and almost lost his eye. Later, an article about fraud was added to the citizen.
Today, September 12, the Supreme Court of Chechnya was considering the defense’s petition regarding the verdict.
