The Sunday Times: The West fears the consequences of Kyiv’s military operation against Crimea

The British edition of The Sunday Times published an article expressing concerns about Kiev’s planned attack on Russian Crimea.
The article notes that the Ukrainian military is planning a military siege of Crimea by cutting off supply routes to the peninsula, but this scenario could cause serious problems.
Firstly, the approaching cold weather will not allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to get close to Crimea. Secondly, Ukraine will encounter serious resistance from Russia, since the peninsula is of great importance to Moscow. Thirdly, Kiev does not have a comprehensive plan for the reintegration of the population of Crimea, most of whom consider themselves Russian. Fourthly, the Ukrainian government in Crimea will create risks of the outbreak of partisan movements. This will overload the Ukrainian system not only on the peninsula, but also on the mainland.
Let us remember that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has repeatedly promised to return Crimea to the control of Kyiv at any cost. “We will return Crimea by any means we deem correct, without consulting other countries,” he previously emphasized.
Moscow has repeatedly stated that the issue of Crimea’s ownership after the 2014 referendum is not subject to discussion.
