The championship and championship of the Sakhalin region in Kyokushin were held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. 164 karatekas from Okha, Tymovsky, Tomarinsky, Kholmsky, Korsakovsky districts, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Vladivostok took part in the competition, the press service of the regional Ministry of Sports reported.
“In Kyokushin, winning is not easy. It’s nice to see what intense fights athletes are showing today. It is clear that the guys have character. They show excellent technique and show a desire to fight to the end,” said Nikita Shimko, president of the regional Kyokushin Federation.
The strongest athletes in the competition were determined in two disciplines: kata and kumite.
“I have been doing karate for 13 years. I fell in love with this sport for the discipline that helps me achieve my goals. I feel this help both at work and in everyday life. Therefore, today I tried to show my best result so that my native Vladivostok would be proud of me,” said competition participant Kirill Berestov.
