The strongest basketball players in Russia compete in Essentuki

The Essentuki sports and recreation complex is hosting the semi-finals of the Russian Basketball Championship among juniors under 19 years old. For almost a week, six teams from Moscow, the Moscow region, Yekaterinburg and Kursk have been competing at the resort for the first lines of the tournament table. Tomorrow, at the semi-final stage, the leaders will be determined who will receive a well-deserved “ticket” to the final.
“Today we have the strongest teams in Russia playing. Some of them are not coming for the first time, we can say that their skills have grown before our eyes – from subgroup “B” to “A”. The competition is being held in Essentuki for the fourth season in a row, we take almost every stage – from qualifying to the semi-finals,” said Vita Bashirova, president of the interregional public organization “Basketball League SOUTH”.
Not only the participating teams, but also the judges came to the Russian Championship in Essentuki. Referees from Yaroslavl, Volgograd and Samara work at the game. The independent team is appointed by the organizer of the competition – the Russian Basketball Federation.
The State Program of the Russian Federation “Development of Physical Culture and Sports” allowed Essentuki to become one of the main regional venues for federal sports meetings. Already at the end of February, the resort will welcome new teams as part of the 2023-2024 season.
