The Stavropol court recognized the actions of the Nazis in the region in 1941-1945 as genocide

The Stavropol Regional Court satisfied the application of the regional prosecutor Yuri Nemykin on recognizing the actions committed by the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 on the territory of the Stavropol Territory as genocide of the peoples of the Soviet Union. Stavropol was under occupation from August 1942 to January 1943. The application was prepared and sent to the court on behalf of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Igor Krasnov.
In total, on the territory of the region, “the German occupation authorities and their accomplices deliberately massacred more than 28 thousand civilians, 274 prisoners of war through mass executions, burial alive, poisoning and torture,” Mr. Nemykin said. 5.5 thousand citizens were shot directly on the territory of Stavropol. As follows from the materials of the court, for refusing to cooperate with the occupiers, Klavdiya Abramova, assistant prosecutor of the region, was executed; before that, her young daughters were shot in front of her eyes.
Not only the inhabitants of the region died in the Stavropol Territory, but also the civilian population from among those evacuated from the western regions of the country. Only in January 1942, about 170 thousand evacuated citizens were placed in the region. Among the victims of the occupation are also 660 patients of the Stavropol psychiatric hospital.
All the stated facts were confirmed by the materials of criminal cases and archival data. The killings of the civilian population and prisoners of war have also been established and confirmed by the verdicts of the courts. As specified in the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office, the previously classified materials of the FSB in the Stavropol Territory were presented to the judicial investigation.
