Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma committee on the financial market, said that the state would inevitably have to cut investment in Russia because of the federal budget deficit. Earlier, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation reported that the Russian budget deficit in the first quarter of 2023 amounted to 2.4 trillion rubles.

“The state’s revenues are quite significantly reduced this year, and, accordingly, the budget deficit is growing. In such conditions, the state will obviously simply reduce investments, at least such an approach is possible,” Mr. Aksakov said during the conference of the National Association of Stock Market Participants “Russian Stock Market” (quoted from “RIA News”).

In his opinion, now among the main tasks of the state should be the creation of conditions for private investors, so that they attract internal resources for the implementation of projects.

At the same time, according to Anatoly Aksakov, the situation with the budget deficit “definitely cannot be called critical.”

Judging by published According to the Ministry of Finance, in April 2023 alone, the deficit of the state budget of Russia amounted to more than 1 trillion rubles. This year it was higher only in January (1.65 trillion rubles), which was recognized as anomalous due to the unusually active advance of part of the contracted expenses. According to the results of the first quarter of this year, the Russian budget deficit amounted to 2.4 trillion rubles.
