There were mitigating and aggravating circumstances in the case.

The state prosecutor at the trial in the Khimki court requested 6 years in a colony-settlement as a punishment for the pilot Denis Evdokimov, the commander of the crew of the Sukhoi Superjet aircraft that crashed at Sheremetyevo Airport. The prosecutor also asks to ban Evdokimov after his release from activities related to the operation of aircraft.

In addition, the prosecutor offered to satisfy the requests of the relatives of the victims for compensation for damages, filed during the process.

As the MK reporter reported from the courtroom, the prosecutor considers Evdokimov’s guilt proved. Extenuating circumstances are the presence of a minor child and positive characteristics, aggravating – the fact that he did not admit guilt.

The Sukhoi Superjet crash occurred at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on May 5, 2019. The plane took off for Murmansk, but returned after being struck by lightning. The liner made a hard landing and caught fire immediately after landing. 41 of the 78 people on board died. The investigation considered that Evdokimov was to blame for the landing error.
