The State Duma will ask the Prosecutor General’s Office to check Urgant and Galkin for treason

State Duma deputies at a plenary meeting today, October 12, adopted a protocol instruction for the Security Committee to send a request to the Prosecutor General’s Office to check eight Russians for providing assistance to the armed forces of Ukraine (treason, Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This was announced by Deputy Head of the Defense Committee Yuri Shvytkin in Telegram channel.
Among those whom the deputies are asking to check are: artist Maxim Galkin (recognized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation as a foreign agent), presenter and artist Alexander Gudkov, fashion historian Alexander Vasiliev, artist Alexander Revva, presenter Ivan Urgant, blogger Ruslan Usachev, businessman Mikhail Fridman, as well as his son Chairman of the Government of the Samara Region Viktor Kudryashov Yuri Kudryashov. The latter was included in the list at the request of deputy Alexander Khinshtein, he said in his Telegram channel.
According to the protocol instructions, the initiative is related to the fact that materials about the return of these individuals to Russia have been distributed in the media and social networks. They, as stated in the document, had previously left the country and “allowed themselves” to make public statements aimed at discrediting the Russian army and state. “At the same time, such persons do not bear any responsibility upon their return to the Russian Federation, remaining unpunished, which causes great public indignation,” the text says.
At the end of the document is a list of media publications that reportedly reflect the “illegal acts” of these Russians. Among them are materials RBC, Life.ru, Bloknot.ru, “Kommersant”TV channel “Tsargrad”, Ruposters.ruas well as two videos from YouTube hosting – one of them unavailable and, as follows from the document, talks about Mikhail Fridman, and the second is Reels from an unknown user, on which Maxim Galkin speaks out about the actions of the Russian leadership.
