Slutsky called for legislative recognition of Russophobia as a criminal offense
The head of the Duma Committee on International Affairs, LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky said that Russophobia should be recognized as a criminal offense. The statement came amid reports that Latvia plans to deport more than a thousand Russians who have not submitted documents to obtain a residence permit.
Slutsky said that in a situation of “discrimination against Russians in unfriendly countries,” one should first “carry out a revision of migration legislation” so that natives of the former republics of the USSR could return to Russia.
“And also finally recognize Russophobia as a criminal offense,” the deputy added.
According to him, deputies are “ready to propose amendments to the legislation.”
