The State Duma adopted in the third final reading a law banning gender reassignment. All 386 MPs present voted in favor.
The adopted law introduces a ban on surgical intervention and hormonal therapy. It is also forbidden to change gender in documents. The only exception will be medical intervention related to the treatment of congenital anomalies. Citizens who have already changed their sex will be prohibited from adopting children, and their marriage will be annulled. Also, transgender people will not be able to be their guardians or trustees.
“Think about it: there have been 50 times more gender reassignment surgeries in the United States over the past 10 years – transgender people (according to 2022 data) 1 million 640 thousand, including 1 million 300 thousand adults (0.5% of the adult population) and 340 thousand adolescents (1.4% of all US children aged 13-17). Amazing trend! This is the path leading to the degeneration of the nation,” State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin commented on the initiative in his Telegram channel.
