The State Duma rejected a bill proposing to introduce criminal liability for cruelty to animals for persons aged 14, and not 16, follows from the information on site Duma.

According to the current legislation, criminal liability for cruelty to animals (Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) begins at the age of 16. The violator faces imprisonment of up to three years, and in some cases – up to five.
