The State Duma proposes to increase the amount of maternity capital to one million rubles

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor Yaroslav Nilov announced the preparation of a bill aimed at increasing the amount of maternity capital to 1 million rubles for the second and third child. According to him, the initiative was supported by representatives of three factions: the LDPR, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and “A Just Russia – For Truth.”
In accordance with the proposed bill, which amends the federal law “On additional measures of state support for families with children”, the amount of maternity capital starting from February 1, 2025 will be 756.7 thousand rubles for the first child, and for the second and third – 1 million rubles each, provided there are no previous payments. These details are contained in the explanatory note to the bill, RIA Novosti reports.
Since the beginning of February 2024, maternity capital in Russia has been indexed by 7.5%. Current payments are 631 thousand rubles for the first-born, 834 thousand rubles for the second child, or 203 thousand rubles if the family previously received a payment for the first child.
