The lower house of the Russian parliament proposed to stop paying money to artists who opposed the special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine, writes URA.ru with a link to the public relations service of the Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Alexander Babakov.

According to the publication, Babakov himself came up with such an idea. According to the politician, after the announcement of the start of a special military operation, some Russian cultural figures took an obvious anti-state position and called for sanctions against Russia, Russians and companies.

After that, the property committee of the lower house of the Russian parliament was offered to apply to the Cabinet of Ministers with an initiative to suspend funding for cultural figures. The corresponding project was presented by the deputy Nikolai Novichkov. The limitation on payments will apply to those artists who discredit the Russian Federation, disseminate false information, are registered in hostile states or are recognized as foreign agents.
