State Duma Deputy Alexander Mazhuga believes that New Year’s scholarships can be paid to students by analogy with the 13th salary. According to him, many Russian universities are already using this practice.

The 13th salary or year-end bonus is an additional payment at the end of December, which usually corresponds to the employee’s monthly salary. It can be paid in several installments.

“The size of the scholarship varies… By analogy with the 13th salary, you can go in the amount of one scholarship. Universities have autonomy in this matter … many universities do just that – they make the 13th scholarship by the end of the year. It seems to me that this is right, a good initiative, but universities can now do this within their competence, ”said the RIA Novosti deputy.

According to site Ministry of Education and Science, the minimum amount of state academic scholarships for university students in 2022 is 1,755 rubles, social scholarships are 2,634 rubles.

By data studies by Skillbox and VK, a third of Russian students live on 10 thousand rubles a month. The total number of students in Russian universities at the beginning of the 2021/2022 academic year was about 4.22 million people, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. To the Ministry of Education and Science offered give scholarships to students for help in the development of patriotism.
