In the second reading, the deputies of the State Duma adopted bill on countering foreign interference. In particular, it is proposed to equate information products produced by a foreign agent with information that is harmful to the health and development of children.
In addition, the amendments introduce a ban on holding rallies, processions and demonstrations on the territory of railway stations, airports, educational organizations and in places adjacent to the buildings of public authorities. At the same time, the ban does not apply to public worship and other religious rites and ceremonies, if this is due to historical, cultural and other objective features.
The documents adopted in the first reading on October 19 were prepared by members of the commissions of the Duma and the Federation Council for combating foreign interference in connection with the law “On Control over the Activities of Persons Under Foreign Influence” adopted in the summer, which comes into force on December 1 and summarizes provisions of various laws governing the status of a foreign agent.
One of the authors of the document, Vasily Piskarev, noted that the bill also proposes to amend the laws on banks and banking, on serving in law enforcement and security agencies, on state secrets, and on elections.
