Sergey Pakhomov, chairman of the Russian State Duma committee on construction and housing and communal services, said that the State Duma will consider a bill in the second reading, according to which Russians will be obliged to check gas equipment in apartments. As the parliamentarian noted, the first reading took place back in 2018, after which the bill was finalized.
According to the deputy, the document introduces the principle of “one house – one service organization.” Pakhomov explained that the tenants would have to conclude service contracts with the same gas organization with which the management company (MC) cooperates. The parliamentarian clarified that from 10 to 50% of apartments did not previously have such agreements, which led to a lack of inspections and accidents.
Valery Kovalev, General Director of PJSC GIT, in turn, noted that his company had long offered to ensure security at home by transferring control of gas equipment to professionals. He stressed that this had been discussed for eight years, and they were “finally heard.”
