The Embassy rejected the resolution of the US Senate committee on the “genocide” of the Russian Federation in Ukraine

Russia rejects the resolution of the U.S. Senate Foreign Affairs Committee recognizing Russia’s actions in Ukraine as “genocide” and considers the accusations set out there as a distortion of facts, stated Embassy of the Russian Federation in Washington in his Telegram channel.

“We categorically reject the accusations contained in the resolution of the committee of the upper house of Congress that Russia’s actions in Ukraine constitute genocide. Such insinuations are outright misrepresentation of facts,” the statement said.

The embassy accused Washington of ignoring the suffering of the inhabitants of Donbass for eight years and even now, when civilians are becoming victims of shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The diplomatic mission added that the political elites intend to wage “war to the last Ukrainian”, seeking to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, and do not think about the consequences for European and global security.

Adopted earlier by a US Senate committee resolution condemns Russia for “committing acts of genocide” against the Ukrainian people, supports the creation of tribunals and international investigations to bring those responsible for these crimes to justice, and calls on the US President to impose sanctions against those involved in the “genocide”.

On November 30, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, took the initiative to create an international anti-Russian tribunal for Ukraine under the auspices of the UN. After that, on December 1, it became known that France began working with Kyiv and European countries to create a tribunal against Russia. Russian Foreign Ministry after that accused the French Foreign Ministry in refusing to recognize the war crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in their silence. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry recommended that France provide several experts who would study the crimes of the Kyiv regime and visit the places of shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
