The State Duma Committee on Education is working on a bill that would ban photography and video filming in the classroom. Filming will be allowed for educational purposes only and will require permission from the teacher and school administration. This was announced by the head of the committee Olga Kazakova.
“This is about a ban on photography … as a proposal that was born from the appeal of teachers who say that you need to finish the lessons with video and photography, but you need to engage in training,” Ms. Kazakova said at a committee meeting (quote By “RIA News”).
According to the current legislation, photography and video filming in schools, including during lessons, is not prohibited, since the school is considered a public place. In 2022, the Ministry of Education recommended that schoolchildren hand over their phones before entering schools or classrooms.
