The State Duma Committee on Labor recommended rejecting the draft law on the introduction of “long” days off from May 1 to 9 in Russia by reducing the New Year holidays. This proposal was previously made by the Vice-Speaker of the State Duma from the party “New People” Vladislav Davankov.
“In fact, the authors of the project, of course, do not take into account the fact that there are winter holidays in winter, and parents with children go to skating rinks and Christmas trees during the winter holidays,” said “RIA News” member of the Duma Labor Committee, United Russia deputy Mikhail Tarasenko.
According to him, the committee received numerous comments on Mr. Davankov’s bill, all of them turned out to be negative, not a single ministry or department supported the initiative. In addition, as deputy Mikhail Tarasenko noted, Russian trade unions strongly opposed the proposal of the New People representative.
As a result, members of the committee recommended rejecting the draft law during the plenary session of the State Duma.
