The State Duma Committee approved punishment for discrediting Russian Guard volunteers

The State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation recommended that the House of Parliament adopt it in the first reading bill on the introduction of criminal liability for discrediting volunteer formations of the Russian Guard.
Amendments were proposed to be made to Articles 207.3 of the Criminal Code (public dissemination of knowingly false information about the actions of the RF Armed Forces) and 280.3 of the Criminal Code (discrediting the RF Armed Forces). It is proposed to supplement the article with the concept of “troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation”. The current editions of the articles mention the armed forces and volunteers. For fakes about the Russian army, you face up to 15 years in prison, for discrediting – up to 7 years.
In total, the package of initiatives proposed at the end of September by a group of United Russia deputies consists of five bills. Amendments are also proposed to be made to the Code of Administrative Violations (Code of Administrative Offenses), Labor And Tax. They, in particular, extend to citizens serving in volunteer formations of the Russian Guard and members of their families the same amount of social guarantees, benefits and compensation that are provided to volunteers entering into contracts with the Ministry of Defense.
