The State Duma Commission to Investigate Interference Facts conducted an investigation into 30 foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and public associations. The Commission proposes to recognize their activities in the Russian Federation as undesirable, and in some cases, extremist. About it informed Vasily Piskarev, head of the commission.
We are talking about NGOs from 16 “unfriendly” countries. These are organizations from Australia, Austria, Hungary, Denmark, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the USA, Germany, Montenegro, the Czech Republic and Sweden. Mr. Piskarev claims that these NGOs are “controlled by NATO governments and aimed at undermining” Russia.
According to the Duma commission, these organizations provoked “riots and separatism” in Russia, interfered in elections, promoted drugs and discredited Russia, and involved teenagers “in destructive activities.” They also allegedly “engaged in anti-Russian activities” in the context of the military operation in Ukraine.
Among such NGOs, Vasily Piskarev singled out Svoboda Alliance (Australia), Russian America for Democracy in Russia (USA), the Ark project (which has representatives in more than 40 countries), Danish Friends of Democratic Russia (Denmark), the Eurasian Association harm reduction (Lithuania), RUHelp – Russians against the war association (Luxembourg), Free Russia NL community (Netherlands), Human Rights House foundation (Norway), Demokrati-Ja movement (Germany), Free Russia Forum (Latvia).
In October, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation acknowledged unwanted German organization “Decembrists” (Dekabristen eV). The department claims that this NGO “threatened the constitutional order and security of Russia”, its activities on the territory of the country are recognized as undesirable. Now there are 66 organizations on the list of undesirable in Russia.
