The State Duma adopted in the second reading a bill aimed at improving the procedure for conducting anti-corruption checks of officials. The relevant document is published on website Duma.
The bill, in particular, expands the powers of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation and his deputies in conducting anti-corruption checks. If the law is adopted, the prosecutor’s office, among other things, will be able to change the basis for the dismissal of an official through the court.
This measure is directed against corrupt officials who, before the check, are dismissed of their own free will, is specified in the explanatory note. The grounds for dismissal can be changed to “loss of trust due to committed corruption offenses.”
In addition, the law establishes a five-year period during which an official dismissed due to loss of confidence will not be able to return to civil service or get a job in a state corporation.
The bill was submitted to the State Duma in February at the initiative of the government as part of the state anti-corruption plan for 2021-2024.
March 1 entered into force amendments to legislation allowing State Duma deputies and senators not to publish their income and property declarations. The authors of the initiative motivated it with security considerations in the face of sanctions pressure on Russia.
