The State Duma approved in the first reading bill on the provision of maximum measures of social support to the widows of veterans, regardless of whether they live alone or with other persons.
One of the authors of the initiative, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, declaredthat supporting military personnel and their families is “a duty to soldiers and officers who protect the country and ensure the safety of citizens.”
The explanatory note to the bill says that, according to the current legislation, social support measures are provided for widows living together with other persons only if they have minor children. The document removes the obstacle in the form of cohabitation with other people. Widows will receive social protection in any case, if they do not remarry.
Recall that military veterans include military personnel who performed tasks during the military operation in Ukraine.
