Another analogue of “Wikipedia” – “Ruviki” will appear in Russia, declared Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Anton Gorelkin in the Telegram channel.
“Well, here is the first hot news from the fields of the RIF: the creation of an analogue of Wikipedia has been announced. Which will be hosted on Russian servers and managed by a Russian legal entity. <...> I wish Ruvika every success and will closely follow the development of this project. I hope that he will fully comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation and will not step on the rake on which very strange dances have been performed for the last year, ”he wrote.
Last summer Gorelkin informed on the launch of the Russian analogue of “Wikipedia” – “Runiversalis”. Now encyclopedia “Runiversalis” available. In the winter of 2022, the Minister of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media of Russia Maksut Shadayev declaredthat the domestic analogue of Wikipedia, the Knowledge portal, is planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2023.
At the end of April this year, the 422nd precinct of the Tagansky District Magistrate’s Court appointed yet another administrative fine by the Wikimedia Foundation (the organization that owns the Wikipedia platform) for refusing to remove prohibited content. Wikimedia has been fined for the seventh time this year for refusing to remove banned content. The amount of fines currently exceeds 8 million rubles.
