The State Duma and the government continue to work on a package of bills on deferrals from partial mobilization, wrote head of the Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov in his Telegram channel.
Kartapolov wrote that the day before, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, Nina Aleksandrovna Ostanina, posted information on delays in mobilization on her social networks.
“In this regard, I would like to recommend Nina Alexandrovna to do real business. In this matter, I think populism is inappropriate. Work with the government of the Russian Federation on a package of bills on delays in mobilization continues, a decision on them will be made taking into account the position of all interested state authorities, since the issue concerns the foundations of the state’s defense capability,” Kartapolov emphasized.
On January 20, Ostanina, in an interview with Kommersant, referring to Kartapolov, informedthat the defense department is ready to support the amendments to the legislation on mobilization that were previously submitted to parliament, providing a deferment from the draft for fathers of disabled children and citizens who are the only children of single parents who are pensioners. Ostanina is one of the authors of this bill.
Later, in a rebuttal, Kartapolov clarified that the State Duma Defense Committee had nothing to do with the information provided by Ostanina. He suggested “leaving these statements on her conscience.”
