Throughout Russia, antenatal clinics will be inspected to prevent abortions, said Tatyana Butskaya, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Issues of Paternity, Maternity and Childhood. According to her, the goal is to check whether psychologists work in all government institutions, how much time is allocated for consultation and what they talk about with the woman.

Mrs. Butskaya claims that the task is “not to prohibit, but to help, to explain that there are no hopeless situations.” She clarified that Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Anna Kuznetsova will be involved in the inspection.

“When a woman comes to the antenatal clinic, she will never be sent for an abortion on the same day. According to the law, there is a “week of silence.” That is, only in a week she can come to get medical help. During this week, psychologists who are trained in abortion counseling must work with the woman,” the deputy said on the radio. “Moscow speaks.”

In the spring of 2024, it is planned to submit to the State Duma a bill banning abortions in private clinics.
