By the end of 2023, deepfake marking may appear in Russia. This was stated by the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Anton Gorelkin in an interview with Parliamentary Newspaper. The video was published in the community of the VKontakte publication.

Deepfake is a technology with which you can create and change the image in photos and videos using artificial intelligence and a neural network. In particular, the tool can be used by scammers to replace a person’s face in a video or photo.
In the summer of 2022, Sber received two patents of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property for technologies that increase the accuracy of detecting deepfakes. The press service of the bank noted that the tool can be used to protect against cyber attacks, fight fakes, and also protect video communications.
In November 2022, Kommersant found out about the development of the Expert service for checking videos for manipulation and searching for deepfakes, Roskomnadzor planned to test the technology.
The problem of deepfakes was outlined in October 2021 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. He emphasized, that the use of deepfakes without the consent of the people themselves is unacceptable, and added that technologies to help recognize the substitution exist. In May 2021, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov declaredthat the threat of deepfakes is “more terrifying” than fake news.
