The State Duma adopted in the final, third reading laws that provide for the creation of bodies of the judiciary in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. About it reported in the press service of the Parliament.

“The main tasks of the judiciary are to assist in improving the judicial system and legal proceedings, protect the rights and legitimate interests of judges, participate in the organizational, personnel and resource support of judicial activities, assert the authority of the judiciary, ensure that judges comply with the requirements of the Code of Judicial Ethics,” says in the message.

The procedure for electing delegates to the first conference of judges of the new regions will be approved by the Presidium of the Council of Judges of Russia. Also, the presidium will agree on the norms of their representation from the relevant courts and the procedure for convening and holding such a conference. Until September 1, 2024, such bodies will appear in the LPR and Zaporozhye region, and until February 1, 2025 – in the DPR and Kherson region.

Pavel Krasheninnikov, head of the Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation, co-author of the projects, explained that the bodies of the judiciary are “essentially a form of self-organization of judges.” According to him, with the help of them, judges get the opportunity to develop joint decisions on the work of the judiciary.

The package of bills was introduced to the State Duma at the end of May. The authors of the initiative were deputy Krasheninnikov, head of the State Building and Legislation Committee of the Federation Council Andrey Klishas, as well as the first deputy head of the Duma Committee on Legislation Irina Pankina.

On April 21, laws on the integration of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions came into force. According to the documents, federal courts of general jurisdiction, arbitration and military courts were created in the new territories. Supreme and arbitration courts of the republics were formed in the DPR and LPR, and regional courts and arbitration courts of the regions were established in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
