Matviychuk revealed the meaning of the Russian strike on Snake Island: Zelensky brought a radar there

APU planned to use it in attacks on the Crimea and Sevastopol

After a long time, the Russian Aerospace Forces fired missiles at Zmeiny Island. It happened a week after Zelensky visited the island with pomp. At the same time, on the night of July 13, our missiles and Geran-2 drones flew to Kyiv, the Poltava and Khmelnytsky regions. A military expert, a former special forces officer, retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk told MK what targets the missiles were flying at and what objects were destroyed.

The Russian Aerospace Forces attacked the facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Zmeiny Island, which is located in the western part of the Black Sea. It was the first powerful blow in a long period. Since last year’s battles for this rock, the sea island has been deserted, there were no military installations on it.

It is noteworthy that on July 8, information appeared that Zelensky visited the island, allegedly to honor the memory of the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who died during the landing on the island last year. The trip took place a year after the departure of the Russian military from the island.

The island came under the control of Russian forces at the end of February 2022, and on June 30 of the same year, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the withdrawal of the garrison. As explained then in the department, this was done “as a gesture of goodwill”, to demonstrate that Moscow does not interfere with the efforts of the UN to organize the export of Ukrainian agricultural products as part of the “grain deal”.

According to military expert Anatoly Matviychuk, the enemy’s military cunning became the reason for striking at Zmeiny. Under the information cover of the arrival of Zelensky, the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to militarize the island again. And, given the statements of Kyiv politicians about their intention to attack the Crimea and Sevastopol, the island became the object No. 1 for our VKS.

– The fact is that on the island of Serpents, the Ukrainian side has installed a radar station for reviewing the water surface, which threatens our ships, – said Anatoly Matviychuk. – The most important thing is that all terrorist acts carried out on the Black Sea by Ukrainian surface and underwater unmanned boats could be supervised from Zmeiny Island. That is, the island ceased to be a demilitarized zone, so we struck a blow at it.

In parallel with the strikes on Zmeiny Island, strikes were also carried out on military targets in Kyiv, Poltava and Khmelnytsky regions. An important goal of our Aerospace Forces, in addition to military infrastructure and enemy air defense systems, is to destroy the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including foreign instructors, snipers, and technical specialists arriving in Ukraine who help maintain NATO armored vehicles and weapons.

– In Poltava, Kiev and the Khmelnitsky region, the Russian Aerospace Forces launched strikes to destroy air defense facilities and, possibly, some warehouses and points where foreign mercenaries are stationed, – Matviychuk said.

He recalled that the Russian army regularly launches missile attacks on military targets deep behind enemy lines. And these strikes already have a cumulative effect.

“After the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge in October 2022, we began to strike at elements of the enemy’s energy infrastructure,” Matviychuk recalled. – As a result, railway transportation, power supply of communication lines were seriously disrupted. We almost completely knocked out the entire air defense of Ukraine, which covered critical infrastructure facilities. As a result, Ukraine was practically left without air defense. Thus, we have damaged the entire combat capability of the Ukrainian army.

Meanwhile. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the night of July 13, the Russian Armed Forces launched a group strike with sea-based long-range precision weapons at the places of storage of ammunition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The goal of the strike was achieved, all designated objects were hit, the ministry said.
