The State Duma adopted amendments to the law on presidential elections

State Duma deputies adopted in the third reading amendments into the law on presidential elections, follows from the bill card in the Duma database.
The document was submitted to the State Duma on October 5 by a group of deputies and senators led by the Chairman of the Duma Committee on State Construction Pavel Krasheninnikov and the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation Andrei Klishas.
In particular, the changes allow presidential elections to be held if martial law is introduced in the territory of any region. The document also provides for the procedure for holding elections if martial law is introduced after the elections are scheduled.
The amendments also establish the possibility of co-financing the preparation and conduct of presidential elections from regional and local budgets. In addition, the bill clarifies the rules for photo and video filming at polling stations: it can only be carried out by those persons who have the legislative right to do so, while violation of the secrecy of voting and control over the choice of voters is unacceptable.
In addition, according to the amendments, only those employees of accredited media who work in the editorial office under an employment contract can be present at meetings of election commissions during the counting of votes and determining the results. The bill also increases the limits on spending on campaign materials.
Presidential elections must take place on March 17, 2024. The decision to call presidential elections is made no earlier than 100 and no later than 90 days before voting day. The Federation Council must announce the appointment of elections from December 8 to 18.
