The State Duma adopted amendments on booking the time for crossing the border by trucks

The State Duma approved in the second reading bill of the Government of the Russian Federation, which obliges owners of freight vehicles to reserve the date and time of border crossing when carrying out international transportation.
The explanatory materials note that the logistics routes for the delivery of goods have undergone changes due to the imposition of sanctions against Russia. The difficult situation at checkpoints remains, including due to restrictions against the spread of coronavirus, the document says. “These circumstances lead to the accumulation of vehicles waiting to pass to the checkpoints,” it says.
You will have to book the border crossing time for trucks belonging to both Russian citizens and carriers, as well as foreign ones. The document also provides for the equipment of the control point with means of forced stopping of vehicles and the placement of the control point on sections of roads adjacent to checkpoints on the Russian border. The Ministry of Transport of Russia has been entrusted with monitoring the implementation of the provisions of the bill.
The bill was submitted for consideration to the State Duma in August 2022. September 21 was approved in the first reading. However, on January 24, the project was withdrawn from the Duma database. The author of the amendments, Evgeny Moskvichev, explained that the document was sent for revision, since the restrictions would not apply to all cars, but only to trucks. The original wording indicated that the amendments apply to vehicles owned by “Russian carriers, foreign carriers, citizens of the Russian Federation, foreign citizens, stateless persons and other road users.”
