The State Duma adopted a law on priority admission to colleges for SVO participants

The State Duma adopted in the third reading lawwhich allows SVO participants, their children, Heroes of Russia, and children of medical workers who died from coronavirus while on duty to enter technical schools and colleges without taking into account grades in the school certificate.

According to the law, the right of priority admission to colleges and technical schools, without taking into account grades in the school certificate and without a contract of targeted training, is granted to: persons awarded three Orders of Courage, Heroes of Russia, participants of the Northern Military District and persons who took part in hostilities in the armed forces of the DPR, People’s Militia LPR, military formations and bodies of the DPR and LPR, starting in May 2014.

The law gives priority to admission to children of military personnel, employees of federal executive bodies and federal bodies that provide for military service. Also for children of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the penal system sent to other states to participate in hostilities.

Children of medical workers who died from coronavirus infection while on duty are given the right to priority admission to colleges and technical schools in educational programs of medical and pharmaceutical education.

The law reflects the requirements for teaching staff to form the civic position of students. In particular, teachers should instill in students patriotism, a desire to work and a responsible attitude towards professional activities. The law, except for certain provisions, will come into force on the date of official publication.

Children of SVO participants can enroll to Russian universities under a separate quota. 10% of budget places in each direction were allocated for this. Based on the results of the admissions campaign within this quota enrolled 6659 people. Ministry of Education and Science reportedthat the children of SVO participants will prepare for admission to universities for free.
