The Duma adopted a law on fines for sending data of Russians through foreign messengers
The State Duma adopted a law on administrative responsibility for civil servants and financial organizations using foreign instant messengers to send data from Russian citizens.
The introduction of fines is envisaged only for those who integrate foreign messengers into their work processes related to the circulation of personal data and financial information.
Civil servants are prohibited from using foreign messengers as part of the fulfillment of a state order or a municipal assignment, and financial organizations are prohibited from connecting them to their information systems. However, any other communication of civil servants or bank employees in foreign messengers (including for work purposes) is not prohibited and will not be punished, Anton Gorelkin, deputy head of the information technology committee, said earlier in his telegram channel.
The proposed fine for officials will be from 30 to 50 thousand rubles, and for legal entities – from 100 to 700 thousand rubles, according to the accompanying documents to the bill.
