The US State Department is currently working to provide all necessary assistance to American citizen Yuri Malev, who was arrested in Russia. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to a representative of the State Department.
Previously, Malev was arrested in connection with charges of rehabilitation of Nazism. The St. Petersburg court sent him under arrest. It was reported that Malev left several posts on social networks with the image of the St. George ribbon.
The State Department said in a statement that ensuring the safety of American citizens abroad is a priority for the department.
As reported, there are a total of two episodes in the Malev case. The first of them is a post on the Odnoklassniki social network, where he calls the St. George ribbon as “an identification mark of a person with a non-traditional sexual orientation,” using obscene expressions. In the second case, the arrested person published on the same social network a photo of a corpse with the text “how to wear the St. George’s ribbon correctly.”
