Washington will closely follow the results of a personal meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. This statement was made on Monday, September 11, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
The speaker of the American foreign policy department announced the intentions of the US authorities “to see what the outcome of the meeting will be.”
Miller also recalled that the United States “always considered imposing sanctions and holding accountable those countries and organizations that help Russia conduct military operations.”
Even before the confirmation of Kim Jong-un’s trip to Russia, the DPRK Ambassador to Moscow, Sin Hong-chul, stated that North Korea supports Russia’s struggle for justice in the world. The diplomat emphasized that his country is aimed at strengthening military camaraderie and solidarity with the Russian Federation “in the fight against a common enemy”.
Meanwhile, the front pages of foreign publications were filled with disturbing headlines, the main topic being why Kim Jong-un is going to Putin, why and what will happen next. In particular, The New York Times recalled that last week US and allied officials reported that Putin and Kim would discuss military cooperation between the countries and the possibility of North Korean supplies to Russia more weapons.
