Members of the committee of the State Council (parliament) of Tatarstan on state building and local self-government recommended that the amendments on renaming the position of the head of the region be withdrawn for revision. Broadcast of the meeting on page legislative body on VKontakte.
“We will formulate exactly this phrase in our decision of the committee: “Recommend to the initiative group to withdraw the draft law in this edition,” said the head of the committee, Albert Khabibullin.
The proposal was supported by the majority of the committee members, while Khabibullin himself abstained.
Yesterday, December 21, a group of deputies of the State Council (parliament) of Tatarstan from the United Russia faction contributed amendments to the constitution of Tatarstan, according to which, from January 1, the president of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov, as the highest official, may lose his status and be renamed the “head” of the Republic of Tatarstan (RT).
In addition, the updated version of the constitution of the region proposes to establish that “the only source of power in the Republic of Tajikistan is its multinational people”, excluding the concept of “sovereignty”. In total, the draft law contains 63 amendments relating to determining the status of government bodies in the republic and the powers to form it.
