The State Commission for Flight Testing of Space Systems and Complexes has authorized the first launch of the Angara-A5 launch vehicle from the Vostochny Cosmodrome tomorrow, April 9. It is planned that in the future the Angara family of rockets will replace Proton launch vehicles.
“Today at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, the state commission authorized the refueling of the first Angara-A5 launch vehicle, carrying the Orion upper stage and test payload, and its launch from pad 1A on April 9 at 12:00:00 p.m. Moscow time,” says the message “Roscosmos”.
Initially, the first launch of Angara-A5 was planned for December 2023. Then it was postponed to the first quarter of 2024. “Angara-A5” belongs to the family of modular-type launch vehicles (allows you to build on blocks of launch vehicle stages) with oxygen-kerosene engines. Angara-A5 can launch from 3 to 7.5 tons of payload into orbit.
