The Petrograd District Court of St. Petersburg fined him 35,000 rubles. The defense of the deputy at the court session explained that the posts did not mention the armed forces at all. She asked to stop the administrative proceedings due to the lack of corpus delicti.
Yabloko himself made a speech in court, where he spoke about the danger of Art. 20.3.3. In his opinion, it violates the constitutional right of Russian citizens to freedom of expression. The deputy believes that bringing him to justice is doubly unfair, since the will of the voters is behind his statements.
At the end of the meeting, the politician told reporters that he intended to appeal the decision to the city court. “I regard today’s decision of the judge as legally unfounded, illegal and politically motivated. This is another judicial act that has nothing to do with the Constitution and law. It is aimed at intimidating opponents of the authorities,” he said.
