The Spectator: Ukraine risks losing a key ally after the elections in Slovakia
[ad_1]
How informs British magazine The Spectator, Ukraine may lose one of its closest allies in Europe due to the political crisis in Slovakia.
According to columnist William Nattrass, public opinion polls on the eve of the elections in Slovakia show that the citizens of this country are ready to support the left-wing Robert Fico’s Social Democratic Party SMER in the September elections.
“SMER leads the polls. It is headed by ex-Prime Minister Robert Fico, the most controversial politician in Slovakia and a harsh critic of the West’s policy on the Ukrainian issue. He has made opposition to Ukraine’s military support his hallmark,” the newspaper writes.
