President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was unable to attend the May 9 breakfast in the Kremlin, as he had to leave for Minsk to attend the events. This was announced by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“He had events related to Victory Day in Minsk. Therefore, he had to leave as soon as possible, ”said the Kremlin spokesman.
Peskov also declined to comment on Lukashenka’s state of health, noting that it “would be extremely incorrect.” The spokesman added that Moscow is “extremely grateful” to the Belarusian leadership, in particular the president, for participating in events in honor of Victory Day in Moscow.
Earlier, the media drew attention to the fact that the Belarusian leader was not present at the breakfast with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of the CIS countries on May 9. After the military parade on Red Square, he also did not walk along with other politicians to the Alexander Garden, but drove an electric car.
Later, he took part in the parade in Minsk, and also laid a wreath at the Victory Monument, reported BelTA. However, for the first time in 29 years, he did not deliver a speech. On behalf of the President of Belarus, this was done by the Minister of Defense of the Republic Viktor Khrenin.
