The specialist will be allocated to the official level of education

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation proposed to formally single out “specialist” as a separate level of education.

For the past twenty years, higher professional education in Russia has been going on mainly in two stages: there was a bachelor’s degree, which involves four years of study; But there was, though rarely, a five-year training. It mainly concerned future technical specialists, for whom four years is simply not enough to receive the education necessary for the economy.

In the summer, Russian universities officially withdrew from the Bologna system, which presupposes the division of higher education into bachelor’s and master’s programs. However, fortunately, they did not “chop off the shoulder”. And neither has been cancelled. But they decided to officially legalize the specialty. Moreover, it was decided to extend it not only to the training of technical specialists, but also to other areas of education. The law is expected to come into force on January 1, 2024.

By the way, scientists are now preparing a draft of new Federal State Educational Standards for Pedagogical Education. And there will be spelled out the possibilities of training students in the specialty. As Aleksey Lubkov, rector of the Moscow Pedagogical State University, noted, the emergence of a specialist in pedagogical specialties is very important, since teachers in schools often have to teach children several subjects at once.

The development of the draft Federal State Educational Standards for training in the form of a specialist in the direction of “Pedagogical Education” is planned to be completed by the end of 2022.
