The Russian Federation is trying to prevent the integration of Moldova into the European Union. This statement was made on Thursday, June 22, by the chairman of the Moldovan parliament and head of the ruling Action and Solidarity party, Igor Grosu.
According to the politician, in these efforts “they created this frozen conflict in Transnistria for us.”
Grosu also said that the proposal of his fellow party member Andrian Keptonar to reduce the diplomatic presence of Russia in Moldova can be discussed after receiving assessments and justification from the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.
After Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, Moldova took the side of the West, relations between Moscow and Chisinau deteriorated sharply.
Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon said that relations between Russia and Moldova are going through a difficult period and “have never fallen so low.” At the same time, the politician expressed confidence that the countries return to “good partnership”because “both the Russian people and the Moldovan people want to be friends.”
