The situation with cancellations of tours to Dagestan after the emergency at the airport was clarified

Russians are massively canceling already purchased tours to Dagestan for the November holidays – this information leaked to Runet from social networks, where the riots at the Makhachkala airport were discussed. We asked those who know the situation from the inside.

“The information disseminated on the Internet about the mass cancellation of tours to Dagestan does not correspond to reality,” the Ministry of Tourism and Folk Arts of Dagestan wrote in its Telegram channel.

“Due to unrest at the airport, its work was suspended, so there was some disruption in the schedule, but now everything is fine,” they say in a Russian travel agency that sells tour packages to Dagestan, including for November. “Everyone whose flights were postponed has already taken off and arrived.

– Are there those who changed their minds?

– Units. Money is not returned if canceled at the last minute. And this is from 10 thousand a day for two, no one wants to lose it. Moreover, Russian tourists in Dagestan have absolutely nothing to fear; order has been restored.

The official report from the tourism industry confirms this: according to the largest domestic tour operators, mass cancellations of tours to Dagestan have not been registered. Where did the other information come from? Let’s look at social networks.

“I have a Jewish surname and a trip to Dagestan for the holidays of my school-age son,” writes user Daria in a thematic public page. – I canceled the tour, losing money, although I had never even been to Israel in my life. But I don’t want to risk my child. When such chaos begins, there is no one to ask. If, God forbid, local teenagers suddenly beat up my son, where would I go to complain?! These are children. And children are angry because adults behave this way.”

Many silently subscribed to this opinion, preferring not to advertise their surnames – and not only Jewish ones.

“Azerbaijan, for example, is criticized by many for not allowing people with an Armenian surname into its territory,” says Natig, an Azerbaijani living in Makhachkala. “But few people thought that this was done for the safety of these people themselves. Since the authorities are not able to control every inadequate guy.

And we all warn all our friends with Armenian surnames, among whom there are many who have never been to Armenia, not to be offended. This is not their conflict, but they can also suffer in it. And then it will be too late.

It’s the same with Dagestan now. The crowd that was dispersed from Uytash (Makhachkala International Airport. – Auth.), they parted ways, but remained with their opinions and their claims.

“My sister has a small guesthouse on the Caspian coast,” says Samara from Derbent. “She was warned by her older relatives to refuse those whose surname on their passport might arouse discontent. These people may not be Jews at all, but if our hotheads can mistake his name for such, then it’s better not to. This is bad for everyone. And to the guests themselves, and to the hotel, if radicals come. It’s better that we lose rent for 2-4 days.

“We don’t have ordinary people in Dagestan, everyone is very important and a relative of someone very important,” explains Samara. – The young raiders, of course, do not sit in the passport offices themselves, but everyone there has an aunt who is an employee or an uncle who is the boss. Just like at check-in at the airport, and everywhere else in general. And we are required to register guests for the duration of their stay at the address of their establishment.

As of Thursday, the Russian tourism industry, represented by the Ministry of Tourism and ATOR, continues to deny information about the “mass cancellation of tours” to Dagestan for the November holidays. But those who were interested in November trips somewhere in principle say the same thing as Yulia from Moscow.

– This is the third day my mail has been overloaded with a ton of urgent messages from Dagestan – flash sales, half price, hot cancellations, etc. I was never going to go there, but I looked at the prices in Sochi for these dates, so, apparently, they figured out that I wouldn’t mind going somewhere in the coming days, and now they are attacking. And when there is such an urgent sale for next to nothing, it doesn’t matter which agency says what, everything is already clear.

– Will you go for next to nothing?!

– No, why do I need such a Dagestan roulette.
