The shortage of imported fur forced stores in Russia to reduce the range of fur coats

Vugar Isaev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of one of the largest Russian sellers of clothing and products made from natural fur “The Snow Queen”, in an interview with RBC said that the company has reduced the number of stores in which mink fur coats are presented.
He clarified that such a step had to be taken from two external factors. First of all, due to the fact that during the coronavirus pandemic, the supply of feedstock has significantly decreased. This happened due to the liquidation of Danish fur farms.
“Prices for raw materials have grown, the rise in price has ranged from 50 to 100%. The second external factor is a significant increase in interest rates on bank loans, due to which the program of preferential consumer lending was terminated, when buyers could purchase a mink coat without a down payment in installments,” Isaev said.
It is clarified that other Russian sellers of fur products also faced a shortage of Scandinavian mink.
