Pavel Nikolin, suspected of shooting police officers in Novoshakhtinsk, admitted in court that he served in the Wagner PMC. He explained that he opened fire because he mistook law enforcement officers for Ukrainians.
Nikolin explained that he had fallen behind his group and got lost. He did not know that he had crossed the Russian border. The detainee explained that the policemen were dressed out of uniform, did not show him the documents and started following him.
“As for the policeman, I am very sorry that this happened. I found out he is on the mend,” said Nikolin.
At the same time, he surrendered to the commandos as soon as he saw their badges.
The Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don arrested him for two months until 9 February.
