The Crew Dragon spacecraft with Russian cosmonaut Anna Kikina on board successfully undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) to return to Earth. The event was broadcast on the NASA website. Previously, the undocking was postponed due to inappropriate weather conditions.
SpaceX, which owns the ship, said the Dragon will re-enter Earth’s atmosphere and “splash down in about 19 hours.”
Kikina arrived at the ISS in October 2022 on the Crew Dragon spacecraft as part of the international Crew-5 crew.
Last year, an agreement on cross-flights was signed between the US and Russia. On September 21, 2022, the Russian Soyuz MS-22 docked to the ISS, with Sergei Prokopiev, Dmitry Petelin and American astronaut Frank Rubio on board.
Thus, Kikina became the first Russian cosmonaut to fly on an American ship under this cooperation agreement.
